Grace Community Church relies on the leadership and effort of a great many people to thrive. Below, are some of the leaders we trust to oversee the general life of the church.
‘… also known by the school nickname of ‘Slab’. I was born in Cornwall 61 years ago, but more importantly I was born again in Cornwall 39 years ago. I remain constantly amazed but eternally thankful that God would save someone like me.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” – Ephesians 2:8 – 9
I work for a firm of accountants, but Numbers is not my favourite book in the Bible (Philippians is!). Sadly I’m divorced, but even in this God has worked in my heart, making me more compassionate, understanding, and loving. I have a 24 year old daughter at university. I’m a big sports fan, playing for local football and cricket clubs. I’m just so thankful for all the brothers and sisters in Christ who have challenged, encouraged, loved. and prayed for me, so that I would live for things that are worth Christ dying for.’
‘I get the joy of serving the people here full time and live on site with my wife Jo, and children Nathaniel and Olivia. We most recently moved from Wales where I was a police officer in Cardiff, and have been here since 2012. Alongside Josiah, I have the privilege of preaching and teaching the Bible most of the time in the services we have, in small groups, and in 1-2-1 discipleship courses. Seeing the Holy Spirit change us and lead us over time has been the most exciting experience of my life so far. God has shown me that I need Him and these people more than I thought they needed me. It is a community where real needs are really met. If there is any ‘spare time’, I will either pick up a book to read, add another bonfire to my tally, or take my kayak to another part of the Cornish coast that hasn’t been challenged.’
‘I have been married to Gillian since 1990. We have been at Grace Community Church since 1996. We have 3 children who all grew up here in the church, Matthew, Hannah and Joshua. As well as my role as elder, Gill and I are involved in a counselling and prayer ministry in the church. We have a real heart to see people fulfil their full potential in the Lord including, being released from past pain. We have seen God work amazing transformations in many lives through this ministry. We live in Liskeard and I work full time as a Customer Service Manager for a Plant and Machinery dealership.’
